Work Experience

Mechanical Engineer, Sandia National Laboratories Aug ’13 – Present
-Design engineer responsible for the design, development and qualification of four unique components.
-Performed qualification work on components to validate design in relevant environments. Tests include random vibration, shock, resonance hammer and static loading.
-Principal investigator for unique composite technology. Responsible for budgeting, work planning, experimental scope and program direction.

Graduate Research Assistant, University of Utah Aug ’12 – July ‘13
-Responsible for the design, development, modeling and testing of a metal hydride heat pump to be used as climate control for electric vehicles. Funding provided by ARPA-E in collaboration with GM and HRL.
-Developed new material characterization models and model validation techniques for metal hydride heat pumps.

Engineering Intern, Northrop Grumman June ‘11 –Aug ‘12
-Developed G2000 Gyroscope bearing resistance test station using Solidworks and Labview.
-Used Minitab to perform statistical analysis on process experiments to determine necessary process changes.
-Developed and implemented troubleshooting processes for manufacturing operators resulting in the reduction of the number of failures engineering had to evaluate from 1-4/day to 2-5/week.

Engineering Intern, Nexant April ‘10 –June ‘11
-Developed sophisticated Excel models to predict energy savings by installing high efficiency equipment.
-Responsible for administering the Questar ThermWise Business Rebates program which awards rebates for installing high efficiency equipment, resulting in over 50,000 DThs of natural gas savings in 2010.
-Inspected commercial and residential systems to insure that installation complied with program requirements.
